Thematically the Doing Europe module is composed of three parts:
Part One offers an introduction to the EU and its different policy fields.
Part Two is dedicated to the European society, its recent political developments and social issues.
Part Three deals with EU grassroots initiatives and developments in the field of civil society.
All throughout the module special attention is paid to the concept of
Doing Europe. Open access lectures, webinars, online discussions as well as a research-oriented seminar Euro-Grassroots-Initiatives-Lab helps to create productive learning environments. The main purpose of these activities is twofold: to introduce students to the EU studies based on the scholarly knowledge; to guide them in conducting empirical research, especially related to civic engagement across the EU. The former promotes the reliance on expertise, awareness and critical assessment; the latter raises the sense of personal responsibility and motivates civic engagement.
